A cave in Boerne, Texas with fully guided 45–60 minute tours down to 132 feet, every hour of every day, at about 63°F.
The story
The Lipan Apache people discovered Cascade Caverns in the 1700s and left behind artifacts. In the 1840s, Kendall County youth rediscovered the cave and carved their initials into stalactites in the first room. Cascade Caverns became the first private-touring cave in Texas in the 1870s, and it opened to the public in 1932. In 1929 Alfred Gray purchased the land and, with Bernard Cartwright, explored the cave, discovering passages, chambers, speleothems and the cascade. The cave was developed in a few months and opened to the public in April 1932.
