How we check the facts
The Cave Guide is an independent guide. We don't run or work for any cave, and we only list caves that are open to the public with tours.
Where the details come from
Every visitor detail (prices, tour length, temperature, stairs, accessibility, pets) comes from the cave operator's own website, the National Park Service or the state park that runs it. Each page shows its source and the date we last checked it.
When a detail is not published, we leave it blank rather than guess. Pages we haven't finished checking say so at the top.
What we don't list
Wild caves that are closed to protect bats, need permits, or are unsafe are not listed. Please respect closures: white-nose syndrome, which kills bats, spreads between caves on clothing and gear.
About the photos
Photos of a specific cave come from Wikimedia Commons under free licenses, and each one shows its photographer and license with a link to the original.
For cave operators
If you run a cave and something on your page is wrong or missing, tell us and we will update it and mark your listing as verified by the operator. There is no cost.
