The Cave Guide

Cody Caves

Ainsworth Hot Springs, BC
Guided tour after an uphill hike.

Guided tours of a limestone cave in the Selkirk Mountains, reached by a 20-minute uphill hike. Options range from a family tour to a more strenuous adventure.

The story

The cave is named after its discoverer, Henry Cody, a miner from Prince Edward Island. In the early 1890s prospectors looking for silver worked the slopes above Ainsworth Hot Springs. An 1899 magazine story made the caves popular with visitors, and Governor General Earl Grey visited in 1908.
